Local lodge upgrades security

In response to increasing criminal activity and robberies at businesses countrywide, a local hotel has adopted a pro-active approach to security by installing a locally manufactured, state-of-the-art security system to protect its guests. Bergwaters Eco Lodge & Spa, situated in the picturesque Elands Valley in Waterval Onder, is one of the first in the area to install the system which features a simple, but effective passive infra red beam system which offers a cost-effective solution to a problem faced by many similar businesses.

The compact, DIY system is easy to install and is made up of a system of sensors which are linked wirelessly to a receiver. The unobtrusive sensor units are simply placed to give complete coverage of the required areas. Each sensor unit covers a wide, 110º arc and has both upper and lower beams that must both simultaneously be broken in order to trigger an alert. This unique feature virtually eliminates false alarms caused by pets, birds, etc. Once triggered, the alert signal is then sent to a receiver – which is also portable and can by carried in the pocket if required. Different alert options are available which permit an audible alarm to be triggered or a silent, ‘visual only’ signal to alert the business owner.

This affordable early-warning system allows users to know, at all times, who or what is moving around on their property and within their security perimeters – allowing guests and property to be protected silently, unobtrusively and effectively, at all times.
